Payanywhere - False advertising - difficult to cancel account
We used PayAnywhere for a major garage sale and then thought that we had deactivated our account.
About a year later we realized we were getting charged a monthly fee and had a hard time figuring out where it was coming from.
We finally found out that it was PayAnywhere and that even though our account was inactive they still charged saying that it is in their user agreement somewhere that if an account is inactive for a certain amount of time they would start charging. Since we could not edit our banking information they could continue to debit money from it.
So I contacted them through a chat after no answer on their customer service line and no response through email. The chat respondent gave me three different numbers to call, none of them picked up but he finally called me directly and cancelled the account since it is against the company policy to cancel over chat or email (unlike most other online service companies).
There is no option to fully cancel your account online, you have to talk to someone over the phone and it is almost impossible to reach anyone.
Sneaky thieves.
